B.O.H.I.C.A.

D.J. Paul’s directorial debut film B.O.H.I.C.A. is titled for the acronym “bend over, here it comes again.” B.O.H.I.C.A. takes place over 24 hours on a patch of desert in American-occupied Afghanistan, where four U.S. Army Reservists are stuck on a meaningless mission guarding a radio tower. Dying of boredom rather than enemy fire, the monotony is broken when the U.S. Air Force mistakenly airdrops a keg of beer and these weekend warriors embark upon an afternoon of booze, banter, and bonding. But as night falls, the reality of war interrupts the drunken respite, as an Afghani militia attacks their station. B.O.H.I.C.A. is at once a recognition of the absurdity and futility of war and an acknowledgement of the men and women who are compelled to fight it.
